On 2 December 2022, The Choice School hosted its first ever competitive Inter School Science Exhibition – Scientia 2022, The Science of Life. This event was introduced to encourage critical thinking and creativity, and offering a platform to exchange ideas and be inspired by each other.
The event brought 17 schools together and one could feel the excitement build amongst the future budding scientists. Scientia 2022, was conducted under the leadership of the Science Department at the Senior School, and had a total of 64 exhibits in three different categories – Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Scientia 2022 was inaugurated by Prof. V J Antony Vellanikaran, former Vice Principal of the Cochin College. In his opening address, Prof. Antony spoke about how knowledge and positive thinking of man has made the present time an era of Science. He urged students to use Science for the betterment of the planet and the lives of every living creature on it. The Principal of The Choice School, Mr. Jacob P Ajith Mathews, spoke about the role of science exhibitions in enhancing the scientific temperament of the children.
An eminent panel of academicians; Dr. Joseph John, Head of the department of Physics, Aquinas College, Prof. Paul Ansel V, Vice Principal, Albertian Institute of Science and Technology, Ms Rakhy Prince, Principal at Sree Narayana Vidhyapeetham Public School, and Mr Vinumon K Mathew, Principal, Sanskara School; judged the various exhibits put up by the participants.
The best performance awards, with a winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000/- in Biology (BIOSIS), Chemistry (ALCHEMY), Physics (PHYSICS) were awarded to Nava Nirman Public School, Vazhakkala, Vidyodhaya School, Thevakkal and Bhavan’s Vidhya Mandir, Eroor respectively. Cash prize, trophies and certificates were also awarded to first, second and third prize winners from all the three categories. The exhibition concluded with a colourful cultural treat by students of The Choice School.
