Beyond Textbooks: Approaching a Subject from Multiple Perspectives

At The Choice School we believe in allowing our students to study a subject from multiple perspectives. It enables students to think outside the box and challenge their preconceived notions by exploring ideas and concepts in more than one way.

Grade 5 students while discussing the mineral resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo, also happened to explore the processes involved in the mining of an ore with the help of a Choice School parent, Mr.Shibu.K.Moideen father of Mohammed Hayyan of 5F,who is an engineer working in the gold mines in Middle East.

Mr.Moideen took the children on an interesting journey of how the location of reserves of gold is first ascertained by geologists, followed by the area being cordoned off for further work to be carried out. The students were shown the variety of machinery and technology used in excavating/digging, transporting, processing and extracting pure gold from the raw ore.
